Spring Photography news and iphone tips
Happy March and so far it really has been, lots of interesting new (and old) clients booking in and interesting projects coming up to look forward to. I do make sure to get my own personal work in though, this photograph was taken in the woods nearby to my house which has been transformed into a magical water scape after all the snow we had recently melted. Incredible to imagine in drier times I walk the dog through there!
Love the reflections and the black and white edit really adds that extra specialness.
The light in early Spring on a clear day is fantastic with clearness and sharpness seeming to be enhanced by the architectural shapes of trees and bushes, stark and defined without their leaves. So get out there with your camera or phone and dont make any excuses about it being cold or there being little light!
Marketing tips this month
Personalise your website with real photographs, loading up your website with stock shots that might also be found on your competitor’s website will do you no favours.
So for your new marketing plan, commission me to do some high quality personalised photography, the results will be far superior to anything you can download from a stock library and might help raise your website above your competition! Be it a portrait of you and / or your team, the premises you work from or the products from your business.
Winner of Best of Houzz award 2018
Am excited to have been voted by the Houzz community as a winner of Best of Houzz 2018 award!
My work won in both the Design Photography & Customer Service categories, with my portfolio containing some of the most popular images and consistent reviews on Houzz in 2017.
Alongside my commercial photography activities, I will be running a Spring DSLR (Digital single lens reflex) camera course, providing you with all the knowledge you need to navigate your way around your digital camera in aperture and shutter speed mode rather than program mode. A full days course running in April, we will do theory in the morning followed by practical work in the afternoon.
‘A truly inspiring course pitched for all levels. The day was well structured, I loved the opportunity to get outside and put theory into practice. Especially great to work with other students. I finally know what the dials and buttons on my camera are for and feel confident in taking some great photos. Highly recommend this course.’ Rebekah Evans (Summer course 2017)
Iphone photo tip of the month
There is a saying that the best camera to use is the one you have in your hand, and although I would never advocate that a camera phone is as good as a professional camera, there are a few tips that can improve your iphoto photographs.
Key to all good photography is the light and there is a little trick you can use on your iphone to make your photographs a bit brighter if they seem too dark. Tap/ press your finger on the screen, a slider with a sun will appear, drag slider up or down to enhance photograph and increase brightness of image.
If your planning your next marketing materials or have other photography needs I still have availability during March, so please get in touch.
Thanks and have a good month!
