Shire Hall Courthouse Museum (Dorset and Dorchester architectural and interiors Photography)
The old courthouse was built over 200 years ago and was the setting for many dramatic court cases, including the trial of the famous Tolpuddle Martyrs. Planning permission was granted to transform the Shire Hall into a new museum and visitor attraction in 2014 and it opened in May this year.
Downstairs the atmospheric basement houses prison cell, unchanged since their days when they used to house prisoners. Upstairs the old courthouse is given a new lease of life with interactive technology and I loved photographing the space as light streamed through the windows.
I changed quite a few of the photographs to black and white capturing the old feel and tradition of the building. The build itself was done by the excellent builders Greendale Construction ltd.
